KCCA FC managed a 3-1 convincing win over traditional rivals Express FC in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League fixture played at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakiso on Wednesday.

Sadat Anaku, Mike Mutyaba and a Muhammad Yiga – own goal gave the defending champions a smile in their bid to close the 33-point gap, which Vipers SC set on Tuesday following their 1-0 win over URA FC at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Anaku opened the scoring in the 14th minute mark, capitalising on a Jackson Nunda pass, as Mutyaba doubled the lead four minutes later with a half volley off an Erisa Ssekisambu cross.

The Red Eagles had a better second half but conceded a killer in the 72nd minute through a Yiga deflection off a Mustapha Kizza shot.

Fred Kalanda reduced the goal deficit from a penalty on the 75th minute mark and that was all the Red Eagles could manage on the day.

The win pushed KCCA to fifth on the log with 19 points while Express are 11th on 14.

As KCCA thumped Express, Uganda’s record champions – SC Villa dropped their first two points at the Bombo Army Barracks playground following a 1-all draw against visiting Bul FC.

David Owori’s equliser in the 74th minute gave the Jogoos a lifeline in their third game at their ‘new’ home in Bombo. Owori’s strike cancelled out Richard Wandyaka’s goal that had put the visitors in the driving seat in the 74th minute.

The Jogoos, however remain unbeaten in 12 league games; collecting 24 points, four behind Bul, who occupy the second place on the log after 14 outings, one more than hosts of the day.

However, it was Police FC day out at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo following a 4-1 win over a seemingly confused Tooro United.

Samson Kigozi scored a brace, with Ben Ocen and Musa Kizito adding one a piece as the Cops walked away with a comfortable win on the day.

The win took the 2005 league winners to eight points, at least seven away from the early relegation counters.
