The Kabaddi federation of Uganda in partnership with Ndejje University Community Sports Education Program (NUCSEP) organized an introduction Kabaddi capacity building course at ndejje University main campus, Bombo on Saturday .
The course attracted the physical education teachers, community based sports coaches, Bombo army barracks sports department and Luweero diocese sports department.
The course was opened up by Ndejje University sports Tutor, Mr. Ivan Karimunda who informed participants about many and organized opportunities which were in Kabaddi sport, and requested everyone to enjoy and develop passion for Kabaddi inorder to go back on ground and start Kabaddi clubs from children level to seniors and as ndejje University they would support Kabaddi development into University games.
The course was attended by the General Secretary, National council of sports (NCS) who was represented by Ms. Anny Nakya who blessed the course and informed participants how the government was willing to support Kabaddi sport to grow as a hard working sport body they recognize, she informed the participants on some great achievements Kabaddi federation of Uganda had managed to get in a short period of there existence and it was very tremendous; being part of Junior World Kabaddi Championship in Iran, Kishisland, Kabaddi she gladiators being the silver medalist on Africa continent last year, organizing national Kabaddi activities and that Kabaddi was a rapid growing sport in Uganda and informed participants to love and grow Kabaddi in the region.
The purpose of this course was to empower physical education and sports teachers, community sports coaches, sports organizers, with Kabaddi skills to go back down there to start training or teaching people the sport from the grassroots, the course had 70% practical sessions hands on court activities to empower participants and understand the sport.
Participants enjoyed and understood the sport.
The federation and participants came up with a follow up program, or road map which was going to be operationally done on ground by participants and we would meet their players (under 15, youths and seniors) on 18th February 2021 the federation would provide coaches who shall work with ground coaches for two weeks and then organize a luweero triangle Kabaddi Championship date to be confirmed.
