StarTimes League: Mutebi upbeat as KCCA FC visit Wakiso Giants

By Bantam Norbat.…..KCCA FC manager Mike Mutebi is confident that his side will be able to put up an impressive performance on match-day nine of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, when they visit the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium, to take on Wakiso Giants on Tuesday 23rd February.

Mutebi, who is upbeat again, after his side walloped Myda FC from Tororo last Saturday 20th February 5-0 at the MTN Omondi stadium noted that his team is confident again. Mutebi, who acknowledged that his side struggled a bit recently, when they lost to BUL FC and even URA FC before, has noticed confidence returning to his team.

“Our win over Myda showed a team that played well, which gives me hope, that they will play well against Wakiso. Scoring as many goals as we did was a huge boost to us,” Mutebi said. That said, Mutebi noted that Wakiso is a formidable team they will not take lightly.

He explained that after following them keenly, he realized that they are a team, that creates several chances, because of the way they play. But Mutebi cautioned his players to be focused and deny them any opportunities, because it is important they maintain a winning streak, to close the gap on the table leaders.

KCCA, who have 13 points from eight games, are five points behind Vipers SC. Yet, Mutebi said that he was not worried one bit about that gap, because he believes that they have the potential to close it. “Of course we have the quality to do that, especially when all our players from the national under-20 team are back,” Mutebi said.

But regarding the fact that his side has already conceded eight goals in eight league fixtures, Mutebi said that he was not overly bothered by it. Instead, Mutebi stressed that there was a high scoring streak in the league, which to him was a good thing. “Fans come to watch matches with many goals, and not 1-1 or goalless draws. So, provided my team can win 5-3, I will not be bothered, because good football is about goals,” Mutebi said.

Meanwhile, in other fixtures on Tuesday, Kyetume hosts Bright Stars in Njeru at 1pm, before struggling Busoga United take on SC Villa. In Tororo, high flying Express FC visit Myda while table leaders Vipers SC welcome BUL FC to Kitende.
