Doha-The global spotlight will turn to Doha from November 20 as the Fifa World Cup 2022 gets underway.
Hosts -Qatar take on Ecuador this Sunday in a tournament opener that kicks off at 10:00pm.

However, for any fans from different parts of the globe, there are several items/substances which the hosting nation has prohibited or banned.
Breach of the local laws as well as the banned items could lead to serious consequences for any fans, including the risk of jail time.

Amongst the list of items banned are E-cigarettes, vapes, pork products, duty-free alcohol, religious books, narcotic drugs, pornographic material as well many others.

However, the fans will be able to enjoy the build-up to the matches with beer available three hours before and an hour post-kickoff. Alcohol will also be available in hotels across Doha but an obscene price.

Thousands of fans will be flying into Qatar during the World Cup and every visitor must have the mandatory Hayya Card, which is required to enter the host nation.
The Hayya card also gives access to all eight stadia and can be used for free travelling on match-days.
Also restricted is the filming and photographing of sensitive areas, such as religious, military or construction sites, which could lead to arrests and imprisonment.

Laws of privacy are very strict in Qatar. Hence fans should be sensitive towards posting anything on social media which may be considered insulting or culturally inappropriate and can be considered a criminal offence under local law.

Several other fan behaviours -such as drinking outside the designated areas, betting, swearing, smoking, public displays of affection can also lead to severe consequences.
