Masaza Cup 2020: Bulemeezi Through, Buluuli Bowed Out

It was a 1-0 highly contested halftime when Buluuli played against Bulemeezi in Airtel Scientific Masaza Cup 2020 played at Fufa Technical centre , Njeru. Noah Mugerwa’s Buluuli led the game after Bukenya John Vianne converted from the penalty spot as Ssemwogerere Rashid who was also yellow carded charged the latter in the penalty area and centre referee petroleum engineer Kavuma Vicent punished Simon Peter Mugerwa’s boys for a reckless tackle .
In less than a minute after the conversion , Bukenya could have made it 2-0 but Bulemeezi goal keeping custodian Banada Ibrahim cleared it out of danger.
Fourth official Kaddu Ali added one minute before Kavuma called it off for halftime refreshment.
Second half resumed when the “Balyanaka ” needed it badly to bring it back to square one.
A few minutes played, Gabdiel Eragu jersey 14 drew and moved into the penalty area and forced a one Buluuli defender for a handball . Referee Kaddu with clear sight awarded Bulemeezi with a penalty that was taken in by Ssesazi Sulaiman who brought the game back to level.
Eragu again moved closer, passed to Kayondo Ismail but squandered the opportunity over and wide.
Wasteful Kayondo wasted another again and this would have been 1-3 for Bulemeezi but small sized Ssekamwa Abdul Salim punched it away straight for a corner kick that yielded negative.
It was Bulemeezi everywhere throughout second half as they needed to secure their top seat passed Mawogola .
Pressure mounted against Buluuli and in the process , Iga Akram was yellow carded.
Coach Simon Peter brought in Kateregga Benardo who this season has proved to be lethal as he has always come in from the bench.
Buluuli scared again, Tenywa Henry moved into the penalty area where he was slightly charged by Bulemeezi defender but Kavuma waved away for game on.
Assistant referee Kalule Michael waved offside for Eragu and opportunity that would have made it 1-2 for Bulemeezi as the game matured.
Soon, dangerous substitute and former Kyaggwe player Kateregga made it 1-2 for Bulemeezi , 3goals in three matches and now the tournament’s leading goal scorer .
Skilful Kakaire Thomas immediately was taken off for Kakooza Ronald who added more life into the game.
“The coach hasn’t yet realised that I have to start the games but I know soon he will look at me. I transferred to Bulemeezi from Kyaggwe because Bulemeezi is a winning team and every player desires that. I see myself improved and this season I dream big to sign with a UPL team and with hard work I have to go professional ,” Kateregga revealed .
Buluuli bowed out of the tournament with only one point at hand .
” We organised ourselves and came back stronger that halftime . We would have sealed it off with 1-3 since Buluuli were not playing. My aim is to play finals. I missed some matches but all were sorted out and now we are here,” Coach Simon Peter Mugerwa explained .
In the first game played at noon, Mawogola edged Butambala 1-0 that left Butambala chances to qualify into quarter finals in suspense.
Singo playes Butambala on Monday in a game clearly needed by Butambala as Butikiro group rounds up.
