Ivan Bogere registered his name on the score-sheet four times, two more than teammates, Ibrahim Bonyo and Hakim Kiwanuka and Bright Anukani added one, on a day Proline routed Bumate United FC 9-0 in the StarTimes Big-League, Rwenzori group match played at the Startimes Stadium, Lugogo, this Wednesday.
The one-sided game saw Proline goalkeeper Hassan Matovu, taking a ‘holiday’ from almost 90 minutes.
Proline Coach Shafiq Bisaso had the guts to bench former KCCA FC defender Saka Mpiima. In addition, his star players like defender Mustapha Mujuzi and Noordin Bunjo were serving suspensions.
The win widened Proline’s chances of making a come-back in Uganda’s premier league as they took charge of the Rwenzori group on 37 points, four ahead of Kiboga Young who a game, less at 16 outings. Plascon FC are third on 31 points.
The winner of each group earns an automatic qualification, while the runners-up engage in a play-off to decide the third team, which also joins the premier league.
Bumate lie on the bottom of the table without a point.
